Bi-partian runner
A downloadable game for Windows
Title: Bi-partian runner
Description:
Extremely short game (more of a proof of concept actually) featuring a robot made of two parts that do distinct (and somewhat antagonist) actions when using the arrow keys (or WASD/ZQSD).
Platform:
Windows
Third-party ressources:
- GameMaker Studio 1.4
- Adobe Photoshop CS6
Contributors:
- Charles Sory for the sprites of the two robot parts
- Maxime Oger (me) for everything else
Controls/explanation:
Keys / Parts of the robot | bottom | top |
Left: | slow down | draw close ice blocks in |
Right: | speed up | shoot flames (which damage ice blocks, or heal the bottom part of the robot) |
Up: | spawn melee weapon (which damage star blocks) for a short time | jump |
Down: | explode block above (to make space for the top part of the robot) | teleport to the top of the bottom part of the robot |
Also, if the top part of the robot is already on top of its bottom part, pressing down will lower all nearby blocks.
I wondered what would happen if I made the dual purpose design completely explicit, and this lead me to creating these two (somewhat) independent robot parts that you have to manage to get through the obstacles.
Unfortunately, I didn't quite have the time to make a real game out of this. There are a few obstacles in the one level I made and then it ends. You can know the number of blocks you destroyed (without getting hit) when you die.
